Keeping baby comfortable in hot and humid weather
Hot, humid days can be tough on little ones. A few simple habits can help keep your baby comfortable.
Change diapers often
A wet diaper traps heat and moisture against the skin. Changing every 2 to 3 hours helps keep skin dry.
Give diaper-free time
Let your baby spend a little time each day without a diaper on a washable mat or towel. Fresh air is good for the skin.
Choose breathable fabrics
Dress your baby in light, loose cotton clothes. Cotton lets air move and absorbs sweat better than synthetic fabrics.
Keep skin clean and dry
At each change, gently clean with water and a soft cloth, then pat dry before putting on a fresh diaper.
Watch for signs of irritation
If you notice redness or rash that doesn't settle within a couple of days, or your baby seems unwell, check with your paediatrician.
